We’re back! Lets kick off 2013 with a little fun. Melbourne artists and designers Iggy and Lou Lou have put together a beautiful range of porcelain jewellery with the collections combining a sense of romance and history. We love the tongue in cheek humor – made perfect for modern day lovers!

Iggy and Lou Lou has a dedicated local and international following, appealing to a wide audience including style and music creatives Emily Blunt, Anthony Gonzalez (M83) and Nicole Richie. Collaborations include Karen Walker, Perks & Mini and Chicks on Speed.

From the Makers…

“Home is our favorite creative space. We make and collect objects that are rare and unexpected, mixing ideals of evolution with a sense of history and belonging.

We love the history of clay and its contrasts, the fact that it’s fragile but strong enough to last generations – even dug up after centuries of being forgotten.

With a Masters of Ceramics behind us, there is a strong emphasis on mixing the latest in ceramic technology with traditional making methods. We make everything ourselves in our studio while being very nice to the environment. Getting our hands dirty, we prefer to do the work ourselves rather than machines and use Australian made durable quartz porcelain, kiln fired up to 4 times . Each piece is beautifully handcrafted and meticulously finished.

Drawing on the history and enduring romance of porcelain our work is made to be loved – handmade originals to have and to hold.”

Artist and designer Dale Hardiman has produced his first commercial product, a series of biodegradable homewares.

The hand crafted Polly range has been created using biodegradable non-toxic wax with each piece unique in shape and colour as a result of the creation process. Coloured pigments are stretched and folded throughout, then hand moulded over forms leaving one side a perfect finish, and the other textured by the pressing and hand shaping process.

For further information visit dale-hardiman.com. The Polly range is available through Dagmar Rousett on Gertrude Street. Make sure you also check out Dale’s Klag chair which we featured earlier this year.

These beautiful works of living art known as terrariums come from the Brunswick studio of Clea Cregan. Her business Miniscapes produces these artworks that remind me of the likes of bonsai’s. You can look through the glass and image yourself getting lost in your thoughts sitting under the tree! Miniscapes has been engaged to display in the Australian Open VIP lounge on numerous occasions and can be seen in various locations around the city.
